今回、上町の「ものづくり」に注目して初めての試みとして行ったのが「シルミルコース」でした。上町には、老舗が多くあるのですが5店舗のご協力を得て伝統の技術・こだわりを聴き・体験していただく大人の社会見学ツアーです。その模様をお伝えしたいと思います。
9:30に県民交流センターを出発、参加者大人9名、子供1名、ガイド1名、法人会ボランティア1名の計14名を1班として（他、南日本新聞社の記者の方1名も同行）。
まずは、第1店舗目の稲森靴店にて、半分に分かれて説明を聞く（一度に全員が入れなかった為）。珍しい皮(亀、鮫など)のことや靴の木型についての解説などを熱心にお話をしていただきました。
1店舗目の『鮫島写真館』にて、写真のネガとプリントの修整のことなどを聞き、3店舗目の『傘工房ちえこ』にて、お店の歴史、傘のお手入れ方、修理のことなど聞きしました。
さらに、4店舗目は、柳町の『相良酒造』にて、焼酎の歴史、お店の歴史、麹菌の不思議の話しなど聞く。また、新しい焼酎の試飲と、ミニボトルやお菓子のお土産をもらい、工場の入り口まで見学させてもらいました。
祇園之洲公園までしばらく歩いて散策。この日の最後は、5店舗目の『田の浦窯』にて、薩摩焼の歴史や土の違い、お店の歴史などを聞ききしました。
どのお店でも、普段聞けない店主・職人さんのこだわりや「ものつぐりの技術」に
触れることができてました。参加者の方々も、非常に熱心にメモを取られたり、質問をなさったりと「学び」と「感動」を得られるウォーキングとなりました。
